Assessment and Testing
Academic, Psychological and Neuropsychological Evaluation
Psychoeducational testing is used to analyze the mental processes underlying educational performance. Proper assessment will evaluate cognitive and academic abilities as well as emotional functioning. Many disabilities and psychiatric conditions may overlap which causes proper diagnosis more difficult. This is often the case when there are a variety of medication options available creating the need for the best possible understanding of underlying issues. Educational Options is able to review current testing and recommend additional evaluation based upon need.
Cognitive Assessment measures the strengths and weaknesses of verbal comprehension, memory and concentration, nonverbal and spatial perceptual reasoning, and motor planning. Understanding these specific areas of functioning allow us to provide adequate planning for the future.
Academic Assessment measures a students abilities in reading, writing and mathematics. Understanding learning styles including learning disabilities or challenges allow students to function at their highest potential.
Emotional Assessment includes interviews with the family, therapist and student. Often comprised of self-administered questionnaires allows us to identify behavioral risk and emotional vulnerabilities.
Neuropsychological Assessment allows diagnosis and provides more intensive information about performance, planning and organizational issues. Looking at issues such as reasoning, judgement and executive functioning provides critical data for future planning.
